Jeff and John: Barbecue Mates with a Competitive Edge

In 2020, we combined a lifelong love for American low-and-slow barbecue with a dash of competitive spirit to create Sticky Fingers Barbecue. We knew that if we were going to step into the arena, we needed a name—and a flavor—that people wouldn't forget.

Our journey began with a hunger to master the craft. Our first competition at the King of the Mountain in New Plymouth fueled the fire, leading us to compete across the New Zealand Barbeque Alliance (NZBA) circuit. Those early days in the competition pits taught us the discipline, timing, and secret techniques required to produce world-class brisket, ribs, and chicken.

Today, Sticky Fingers has evolved from a competition team into an award-winning catering powerhouse. We’ve taken everything we learned on the circuit—the precision of wood-fire smoking and the balance of our signature rubs—and brought it to the private events market.

Why we do it: We live for that moment when a guest tastes our 12-hour smoked brisket for the first time. Whether we're competing or catering your special day, our mission remains the same: sharing our passion for great meat, authentic smoke, and the best times.
